Ira Sherman’s Bio Video

Ira Sherman Bio Video Thumb

I am just a kid from the Bronx.

My name’s Ira Sherman. I started here as an associate, and now I’m the managing partner. My history is that I grew up in the Bronx with my sister and my two parents in a two-bedroom apartment. My father came to America in 1929. He didn’t speak any English. From the time I was a little kid, 10 or 11 years old, I always wanted to be a lawyer. I wanted to represent “the little guy” because, in my view, my family was the little guy.

This law firm has been in this building for approximately 50 years. It’s called, on the sign that Mr. Chaikin put up, the Law Building. From the moment I walked into this building, this townhouse, I felt like it was home. It was a home. And Mr. Chaikin made it feel that way.

All we do and all we have done is represent individuals who suffered personal injury through the carelessness of others. And we hope that this building, when you walk in, from the moment we shake your hand, will give you the comfort that it gave me and everybody else. We hope your cares will somewhat be lifted off your shoulders and put on ours.

Large corporations have continued to get larger. The insurance companies, the big medical systems—every day that they come to work, they just see one claim after another. They do not humanize each person who’s been hurt.

Being the voice of people who are injured through no fault of their own and succeeding in communicating how that has affected them has been extraordinarily satisfying to me.
